John Gabriel

boys’ HEAD coach

Coach Gabriel joins Poly with a plethora of lacrosse coaching and playing experience. He currently serves as the President of Beach Cities Youth Lacrosse Club, a boys and girls youth lacrosse program that promotes the sport of lacrosse and helps to grow the game within our community. Coach Gabriel has previously served as an assistant coach at Whittier College (’13, ’14, ’16) and New England College (’12). In 2011, he was named the NCAA All-American, an honor given to outstanding collegiate athletes competing at the highest level. In the fall of 2021, he was honored and inducted into the New England College Athletic Hall of Fame for his achievements in both Lacrosse and Soccer.

Chris O’Brien

Chris O’Brien is the Assistant Coach and Alumnus (c/o 2021) of the Long Beach Poly Lacrosse Team. At Long Beach Poly, he was a team captain during his senior year and received First Team All-Moore League Award in 2021. Coach Chris is a 2-time Unsung Hero Award recipient. He is currently the starting face-off player for Legion Mens Lacrosse Club, playing in the SoCal Box Lacrosse League. Coach Chris will be playing lacrosse at California State University, Long Beach during Spring 2022. He has received a scholarship to face-off at Arizona State University for Fall 2022.
